You might say we have had our fair share of rain, and the forecast for the next week doesn't look much different than the forecast for the past 6 weeks. It can be quite deceiving. We wake up in the morning, and the sun shines bright, and we think, surely the rain will spare us today. We get our swimsuits on and wait for the pool to open. And of course, as soon as we get a toe in the pool, the thunder booms and everybody has to get out of the pool. And if you try to wait out the thunder, you'll only get caught in the torrential rain. So we head home with a disappointed 7 year old and highly aggravated, non-understanding, crying, screaming at the thunder, 4 year old. Good times.
However, we saw a beautiful rainbow over our house after one of the showers. And then we looked again and saw another rainbow right above the first rainbow. We had never seen that before. It was so pretty, for lack of a better word. And if you have some scientific explanation, don't tell me, I prefer just to enjoy it, not explain it.

double rainbow.
After light is reflected on the far
side of the raindrop, most of it leaves the drop on the other side and forms the primary rainbow but some of the light does not escape immediately and is again reflected.
this 2nd refelection is at slightly different angle than the orginal.
what is neat in the second arc the blue light reflects with a larger angle than the red and the colors are inverted.
