Humphrey Noble Davis
If you've followed FB or Instagram, you are aware we added a new member to the family. Clearly, we have lost our minds.
After searching and waiting and almost giving up, we got our English Bulldog. We found a breeder just a few miles from our house. She has them in her home and they are family and not money-makers to her. In fact, the dogs know her as Mom and her husband, Poppy. And she has answered every dumb question we have had and we have had some.
Anyway, we chose between 2 Bulldogs. And as Mac said, "Utah" just interviewed better. And he's perfect for us. He was a year old and fully grown and a small 42lbs. He is a reverse brindle. And we all know reverse brindle is the new black. And bonus: all the hard training had been done.😃
And we renamed him Humphrey Noble Davis. All things Mississippi State.
Humphrey from Humphrey Coliseum
Noble, from Dudy Noble Field
Davis from Davis Wade Stadium (that one worked itself out)
And what a season we had since his arrival back in July. I'm not saying he was the reason. I'm just saying the timing is a little too coincidental.

Roller Skating Casualty
Roller skating in the cul-de-sac with friends on a Friday night is all fun and games until someone falls and breaks something. Holland broke her wrist. She was a trooper, especially when the ER dr pushed the bone back closer to where it is supposed to be. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to vomit through my reassuring smile.
March Madness
For the NCAA tournament this year, Mac, Grey, and myself filled out our own brackets. They started to come apart at the seams early in the tournament, especially the bracket that picked Wichita State to win it all, (Mac) so the winner in the Davis house was the owner of the bracket with the least errors. The prize was a tax-free cash award of $25.
I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that Grey won.

Maybe everyone does have a twin somewhere....
Mac was in the grocery store not long ago when a man came up to him, convinced he was a local doctor named Dr. Lansing. Naturally, the kids and I googled Dr. Lansing.

Practicing not only the piano, but a lot of patience, too.
Practicing on the same piano I practiced on at her age. She enjoys practicing even less than I did. But, playing the piano or just learning to read music is a life skill I'm going to insist upon.
No matter how unpleasant the early years are.

The Books of Elsewhere
Holland's teacher from last year, Mrs. M, is an avid reader and really made a point to encourage her students to read. She and Holland, who has always loved to read, had a special reading bond. They shared their favorite books with each other all school-year long.
This summer, Mrs. M was traveling to Wisconsin where the author of one of Holland's favorite series, The Books of Elsewhere, lives. Mrs. M emailed the author and actually found a bookstore in Wisconsin where she was going to be signing her latest book in the Elsewhere series. Holland has been anxiously awaiting this new book. (She is so my child.)
So, while Mrs. M was up there, she bought Holland the book and had the author, Jaqueline West autograph it to Holland. Then she hand-delivered it to Holland. Holland was thrilled!
These are the types of teachers that love teaching and make a difference in the lives of children. It almost makes me able to overlook the fact that she is a die-hard LSU fan.
