And they said it couldn't be done......

And they said it couldn't be done or was it that it shouldn't be done. I've been cooking. Don't be afraid, it was a recipe from my sister-in-law, Elizabeth. A friend of mine asked me if I would like to join in on a meal exchange. (The premise: You make the same dish for however many people are in the exchange. Say, if 6 people are in it, you make 6 dishes of the same meal. Then you meet and exchange and you come away with 6 different meals to freeze and enjoy at a later date. Mac says it sounds like a pyramid scam.) So my friend asked me to join, and after we quit laughing, I'd thought I'd give it a shot. My friend neglected to mention how many were participating this time around. So, I had to make 14 meals. That's right, FOURTEEN. And tonight we meet to exchange. I'll let you know how it all pans out . Hopefully, we'll walk away with 14 meals and no "business opportunities".

The Black Hard Shoe Is Looking Pretty Good Now.....

I find that sometimes when I complain, God will show me that I didn't have it so bad after all. I went for my 3 week check-up for my broken foot, and the X-ray confirmed my suspicions. The foot has not healed any. So now, we are going to try a cast and crutches for the next 3 weeks. If it is still not any better, then I have to go to an orthopedic surgeon which opens a can of worms I'd rather leave unopened. And that is all my attorney will allow me to say publicly about the incident in question until the lawsuit against Mr. H.A. Norwood has been settled. I'm kidding, of course.

The Grey Panther

Being from way down South, I never really considered soccer a sport; a hobby...at best. However, I have seen it in a new light. It's a great sport (yes, I said sport) for young kids and more importantly, Grey loves it. After a 2 year hiatus, and since it isn't basketball season (his first love), he has returned to the game. It's through Upwards Soccer which is a Christian organization where the kids play soccer and learn scripture. It's the first time our church has ever done it. Naturally, we jumped on the bandwagon. But I'm going to brag on my boy and say, he is really good. He's confident and aggressive on offense, making goals, but he'll also pass to a teammate. (No Kobe Bryant syndrome). He's great on defense, goalie included. And he's really fast. So watch out for his team, The Panthers, especially the Grey Panther.

Here come the vacation pictures....again.

Some days Mac and I sigh and wish were back at Universal Studios, Orlando. Today is one of those days. So this post is a flashback to The Davis' do Universal Studios. Besides, most of you haven't seen the pictures anyway.

"I had a great day!"

Well it wouldn't be fair to write about Grey's 1st week of school and not write about Holland's. She finished up her first week of Mother's Day Out. She attends 2 days a week 9:30-2:30. She's never been one to get excited about going to school, but she is always happy and skipping to the truck, saying "I had a great day!" when I pick her up. So I know she likes it. Her favorite part of the day is usually music. She loves to sing and dance, and I always feel better when there is actual music playing, not just what she hears in her head. The school also has an indoor playground which is great for Holland, because she's not outdoorsy. Up until a couple of weeks ago, she refused to walk on grass. The reality of how hard that was going to be finally dawned on her, and she gave up the cause. There is never a dull moment with my Holly-girl.

Livin' on the Edge

Mac got a new toy. It's a BMW motorcycle. We figured that since he's been rear-ended in three different states, hit 2 deer, and had the back of his car crushed by a tree while sitting at a red light, how much more dangerous could a motorcycle be? He can hang his swatches on the side, strap his laptop in the seat behind him and go sell some furniture. And if you buy this little story, I have a unicorn farm you might be interested in. The truth: a friend rented this bike for the weekend and stopped by our house. We ooohed and aahhhed and took turns sitting on it.

The Black Hard Shoe

Okay, I have a little over 4 more weeks of the hard shoe... sigh For those who don't know (there can't be many of you), I broke my foot when I was in Mississippi a couple of weeks ago. We were leaving my brother, Hank's house, and I stepped out the back door and fell hard on my foot. The doctor called it the "Ballerina Break" although I can assure you my fall was neither graceful nor beautiful. Instead of a cast I got the "Hard Shoe" in a very slimming black. Oh yes, it is as pretty as it sounds. It's a look I'm not sure anyone can carry, but I am doing my best. Maybe I should look into getting a Bedazzler. ...Hmmm now there's a thought.....

The countdown is over. School has begun. Grey's first week of school went great! He is excited to be a Shadow Forest Shark. He had his first day in the first grade, and his first day at his new school. He handled it all with his usual laid back attitude. He likes his teacher, Mrs Burkett, and he has already made some friends. He doesn't know their names, but that doesn't matter to Grey. He figures he'll get around to that eventually. He had his first bus ride, which he has been looking forward to since he was 4. (I give it another week before that wears off.) He 's lucky because the bus stops at our driveway. No walking in the snow with no shoes, uphill both ways for Grey. So it looks like this year is off to a good start. Only 11 more years to go.....
