The night started with such promise. Each child dressed in the costumes they picked out a month ago. We went to our church's fall festival where there were plenty of games, inflatable moonwalks, candy, popcorn, etc. Then it happened. Holland wanted to ride the train. Though there was a bit of a line and the line was downwind from the pony ride, we got in line so Holland could ride the train. Then she started the whining about wanting to ride the train and we told her we were in the line for the train; she got louder; we pointed to the train and told her that her turn was coming; she got louder and started waving her arms about. Then she just broke down and folks, it was ugly. We had to leave the train line, for the sheer principle. I can't reward bad behavior. We ended up having to leave the festival all together with a screaming
"I wanna ride the train", leg-kicking, arm-flailing Tinkerbell thrown over Mac's shoulders. So Grey dubbed the night, "Attack of the Killer Whiner".

Grey's 5 o'clock shadow appears before the fall festival.
