The Last Pictures from Thanksgiving........Finally

Working on the 12th bowl of Cookie Dough ice cream before dinner.

Taking over the joint like they always do.

"I washed my hands right over there...What do you mean that doesn't count?"

Practicing waiting patiently................We need a lot more practice.

"Occiffferrr, I've only had 3 or 4 glasses of milk...I promisssss."

The Paleontologists

Whenever the kids go to Ran and Papa's, they know there is always a gift waiting for them on the hearth. After hugs and hi's, they make a beeline for the hearth. On this visit, Grey got a "Dig-A-Dino Skeleton". The object: Hammer, dig, and brush the brick until you uncover the bones and put the dinosaur together. It is hours....well, more like days of fun.

(The pictures were taken and will be shown in sepia for that authentic Dinosaur Excavation look.)

Thanksgiving Part 3

Being in Starkville, Ms, the home of Mississippi State University, Holland decided to look into to some possible fields of study that she might want to later pursue. Here are a few she found of interest. MUSIC. Here she is singing with the famous Hallmark Singing Snowmen.

THEATRE. Here Holland and Granddaddy act out Act III Scene 2 from Macbeth with puppets.

ART. Creating a masterpiece using only 4 crayons and a Harvey's children's menu.

ENGINEERING Building sound structures for a variety of purposes. Holland is pictured here with Mallory Ann, expert demolitionist.

BLACK JACK DEALER Not as promising. She always skips the number 6, and the casinos frown on that.

Maximum Family in Minimum Time (Thanksgiving Part 1)

4 grandparents, 3 uncles, (1 with fiance, 1 with girlfriend), 3 first cousins, 2 aunts, and 1 great-aunt packed into 3 full days with Thanksgiving sandwiched in-between.
(If I had needed a kidney, this would have been a good time to ask.)

Pictured: Wolf Man Jack, (oh wait, that's my brother, Chris. I'm not used to the beard yet.), Susie, Moi, Christie, and my other brother Hank, the antagonizer all grown up.

The First Cousins: Jordan (7), Grey (7), Patrick (4), Holland (3), Mallory Ann (20 months). All were bribed to sit still. You can see Mallory Ann admiring her piece of the action, $1 bill.
Great-aunt Gay (great, in every sense of the word) and Grey picking out fresh goldfish for lunch at City Bagel Cafe.

Me again, Hank, Mom, and General Custer.. sorry...I mean Chris.

Where all the trouble can be traced back to. The other 2, of course, not me.

Back in the Saddle Again....

Well, we are back. 3 of us left Texas on Monday and 3 returned. In my book that's called a successful trip. No one was left at a rest stop or gas station, because they were driving their Mama crazy. And my right arm didn't break off passing countless items to greedy little hands in the backseat. Though there were moments when I desperately wished for a soundproof glass window between the front seat and the back seat like limos have. Right when the "that's mine; she's going to break it!", and the "he said Cinderella was a freak!", I would simply ease the window up and bask in peaceful quiet. But alas, the truck is not equipped with such a wonderful device. And since I was on the road 10 hours today, I will post pics from the trip tomorrow. Until then.......

So you don't miss us......

Well, we will be heading to Mississippi for the Thanksgiving break which means there will be a break in the blog. However, I have made a little video to get you through. So relax, grab a cup of joe, and turn up the volume. You are about to get more of The Davis 4 than you bargained for.

Getting a head start on the competition......

This is close enough, Mama. Hey Santa, I WANT A BICYCLE!

Maybe he couldn't hear me screaming from way over there. I'll get a little closer. I WANT A BICYCLE!

Whoa, I didn't expect him to come over here to me. I better soften my approach. I want a bicycle, please......

Holland slips Santa a couple of twenties to get that bicycle request processed a little faster.

Word on the street is that you have free coloring books. I am going to need to see the merchandise, Santa.

Well shoot, this is a breeze. I should have asked for more than a bicycle.

You want a piece of me?!

Tired of jokes about his weight, Texas takes a swipe at Holland.

The Great Greydini

Magic Trick:The Disappearing Ball
(Hey, Even Houdini had to start somewhere.......)
Here is the ball resting on the vase.

I am going to put the cover over the ball and make it disappear.

ABRACADABRA!!!

The ball has vanished!!!

But wait, let me check my pocket......

Taaaa Daaa...the ball vanished from the vase and appeared in my pocket. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.......

My lovely assistant, Holland.

(Mom says an even better trick would be to make that pizza stain on Holland's shirt disappear. She said that would be a magic trick she could get on board with.)

"Good Morning Mama....I saw cake.."-Holland

Today's playgroup was at "Be An Angel" Park. I'm not sure who scouted it out, but it was definitelty my favorite, and the kids loved it! Many a tear was shed upon departure. My friend Liz brought a birthday cake and gift for me so that may also bias my opinion on the park. We stayed about 3 1/2 hours and not once did Holland cry for no reason, scream in terror at an insect, whine uncontrollably, or stay glued to my side. She had a great time with her friends, Faith, Trent, Mia, Kendall, Garrett, Avery, Cooper, Xomie, and Olivia. Can't wait to go back.....
Caution: This slide is not for adults. (My butt is still vibrating.)
Never look directly at the camera. It drives Mama crazy! -Holland
The Cadillac of swings. It's like a recliner on chains.
This is a great way to get knocked out. Always give swingers wide berth.

Mia is such an Elmo groupie.
The shirt reads, "Elmo is my homeboy."
(I took this picture for you, Will.)

Touching Tomorrow Today

Today was Committment Sunday and the groundbreaking ceremony at our church for our new building program, Touching Tomorrow Today. Our church has such a heart for children and their families in this community, and we've outgrown our current building. So the first phase is a new children's building. This building campaign has been a great opportunity not only for us to give, but also to teach our kids about stewardship. Grey understands about tithing (He divides his allowance into 3 envelopes, tithe, save, spend.), but now he can learn about giving an offering above the tithe. We wanted Grey to see that we prayed over what God would have us give and we told him that we made a monthly committment for the next 3 years. We also want him to understand that giving isn't about money, it's about the motive and the attitude of your heart. Sometimes it's a huge step of faith, but God is faithful to honor it. Grey and Holland with their Touching Tomorrow Today shovels.
Grey shoveling in his church clothes. (Note to self: Pick up Spray and Wash on way home.)
Holland digs like a girl.
Though he had his eye on the bulldozer, Mac settles for a shovel.
