Alabama Christmas 2010

A couple of days after Christmas we headed over to Fairhope, Al for some Banny and Pop time. We arrived to a dinner of chicken and dumplings and banana pudding. Grey was ready to permanently move in. We had a lot of fun. We arrived on Monday and left on Wednesday so we packed it in. We went to the beach, hung out at The Hangout, bowled a few ugly games of bowling, (We all could have used the bumpers.) and then played some card games at night. We had a great time! No matter how cold, he always heads to the water.

Beautiful beach. We only found seashells, not a single tarball. Guess we can always get those in Galveston.

There's the Christmas Card for 2010.

If only I had it before Christmas, I could have used it.

Merry Christmas, anyway!

Cousins

I wanted a sweet picture of the cousins together.
We don't always get what we want.

Pit Stop

On our way to Mississipi for Thanksgiving, we made a pit stop in Hammond, La to eat at the Cracker Barrel with Papa Tom, who is working there......working in Hammond that is, not the Cracker Barrel.

Alabama Christmas 2009

Ok, I know it's been awhile since I have posted. Believe me, I feel your judging eyes. Trust me I do a LOT better job at keeping up with the blog than my scrapbooking. According to my scrapbooks, Grey began life at age 4, and Holland is still 2. So when you judge my blogging by that very low standard, I'm doing pretty well.....

Anyway, I'm going to go back a little bit in time, kind of a warm-up for more current posts. The only reason I'm telling you this is because there are Christmas trees in the following pictures and I figured you would catch on that these pics aren't from this week.

The day after Christmas, we headed over to Alabama for some family Christmas time. Snuggies are perfect for traveling. That was a totally unexpected perk. For some reason this trip involved us wearing a lot of hats. I don't know why, but Alabama seems to bring that side of us out.

Hannah Montana gifts. 'Nuff said.
Grey got that desk calendar that he is lovingly holding in his hand that plays the Alabama fight song. It got lost and never made it back to Texas with us. And no, we didn't do anything to cause that. Of course, I'm not shedding any tears over it, either.

We thought it was neat his shirt matched his magic book.

We had a great time!

Marathons Aren't For Sissies

Mac's sister Elizabeth came out to Houston to see us and to run the Houston Marathon. She is an amazing runner and this was her 5th marathon. She finished the marathon in 3:19:46. Seriously. And her personal record is actually 3:09.
Crazy, isn't it?
Crazy good.
Anyway, she made the front page of the Houston Chronicle. That's her on the left in the yellow visor. She came in 48th among the women, and she isn't even Kenyan. That is awesome!

Mac and Elizabeth at the Expo the day before the marathon.

The morning of the marathon. It was pretty early, but it's never too early for them to ring their mini cowbells.
(I have since confiscated and hid them. I mean...I'm saving them for next year.)

Just after crossing the finish line. Cool and collected.
(They would have been scraping me off the pavement.)

You rock, Elizabeth.
We already pumped up for next year!
